My Personal Philosophy
to brighten every corner I find myself, no matter who or what occupies the space.
My Timeline
A Birth Story, An Upbringing
Growing up in Ghana, I was surrounded by ambitious entrepreneurs and developed a love for the arts, playing percussive instruments on national stages. My passion for organizing events and bringing people together made our family home the central gathering spot until I left for boarding school in 9th grade.
1990-2006
A Journey to the West
In boarding school, I learned hard work, discipline, and independence. Moving to Harlem, New York, meant starting over, leaving my home country and family behind. Adapting to a new culture while balancing my Ghanaian roots with American life was a daily mental challenge, as I struggled to rebuild a support system.
2006
An Education in Maine
College was a turning point where I found my voice, double-majored in Politics and Rhetoric, and took on leadership roles to advocate for underrepresented students. With mentor support, I spent summers and semesters abroad, conducting research and connecting with people of diverse backgrounds. These transformative experiences ignited my passion for a global career.
2009
A Global Career
Having traveled to over 30 countries, I’ve engaged in research, consulting, and partnerships to address economic disparities. Each destination and project marked a chapter in my journey to unite stakeholders—from governments to private institutions—in tackling global issues. While navigating diverse work environments brought immense fulfillment, it wasn't without challenges. An unexpected incident in 2019 humbled me and reminded me of life’s unpredictability.
2013
A Lesson of the Heart
In 2019, I survived a life-threatening open-heart surgery. Though I knew the link between heart health and stress, my “hustle mentality” ignored the signs of burnout. This experience reminded me to cultivate a healthier relationship with work. It also inspired me to create an entity to help others navigate work environments and reach their career goals with ease, so they don’t end up in a hospital bed like I did.
2019
A Fulbright Scholar
Around the time of my surgery, I received a Fulbright fellowship to explore investment opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Uganda. When COVID-19 hit, I helped implement contactless payments to keep their businesses afloat. Building relationships with these women and seeing the impact of my work launched my fulfilling career in Payments/Fintech.
2020
An International Stage
My Payments career advanced quickly, earning me awards and industry recognition. I was invited to speak at conferences, collaborate on empowering high achievers, and lead discussions on career mobility. Being recognized as top talent and nominated for a rising star award fueled my passion to address the underrepresentation of diverse talent in leadership positions.
2021
An Acceptance of my Calling
While it was rewarding to be recognized for my hard work, I couldn’t ignore that many deserving colleagues were often overlooked. Frustrated by the exclusivity of corporate America, I decided to formalize my coaching and create a program specifically designed to help those with talent, drive and determination level up in their careers.
