From Uganda to Chairing Transform Payments USA 2023
In 2020, amidst my Fulbright project in Uganda, destiny took an unexpected turn when the pandemic swept us all into a whirlwind. Fully immersed in my work, which aimed to empower women entrepreneurs by granting them access to capital, I bore witness to the abrupt halt of their vibrant businesses. This moment struck me to my very core.
Yet, I refused to let adversity triumph. In unison with these resilient women and other relevant entities, bound together by a shared vision, we embarked on a mission to provide them with access to contactless payment platforms, allowing them to sustain their ventures. The profound impact of our collaborative efforts served as a defining moment that ignited a passionate fire within me, propelling me into the captivating world of Payments.
Throughout these past three years, the realm of Payments has undergone an astonishing metamorphosis, a testament to the rapid pace of change in this dynamic field.
Today, I am humbled and filled with gratitude as I assume the role of Chair for Reuters Transform Payments USA 2023. This esteemed event brings together luminaries, thought leaders, and innovators from every corner of our nation, united by an unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of how we exchange value. Together, we are shaping a future that is more interconnected, vibrant, and bursting with boundless possibilities for Payments.
Amidst all the progress and evolution, one thing remains steadfast: my unyielding dedication to uplifting underserved communities and placing the needs of customers at the forefront of my endeavors. Etched deep within my soul are the indelible memories of the extraordinary women I had the privilege of working with—their resilience and determination.
Together, let us weave a tapestry of inclusion, empathy, and progress, empowering individuals and communities to transcend boundaries, chase their dreams, and forge a future where financial opportunities know no limits. #payments #TPUSA #reutersevents #austintexas #jpmorgan
